The Bump Hunting Using the Decision Tree Combined with the Genetic Algorithm: Extreme-value Statistics Aspect

چکیده
In difficult classification problems of the z-dimensional points into two groups giving 0-1 responses due to the messy data structure, it is more favorable to search for the denser regions for the response 1 points than to find the boundaries to separate the two groups; this is called the bump hunting. In a series of previous studies, we have shown that a bump hunting method using the decision tree combined with the genetic algorithm is useful for certain customer database, where we have developed a tradeoff curve between the pureness rate and the capture rate. This paper deals with the behavior of the tradeoff curve from a statistical viewpoint.

The Bump Hunting Method Using the Genetic Algorithm with the Extreme-Value Statistics
SUMMARY In difficult classification problems of the z-dimensional points into two groups giving 0-1 responses due to the messy data structure, we try to find the denser regions for the favorable customers of response 1, instead of finding the boundaries to separate the two groups. Such regions are called the bumps, and finding the boundaries of the bumps is called the bump hunting. The main obj...
متن کاملAn Efficient Predictive Model for Probability of Genetic Diseases Transmission Using a Combined Model
In this article, a new combined approach of a decision tree and clustering is presented to predict the transmission of genetic diseases. In this article, the performance of these algorithms is compared for more accurate prediction of disease transmission under the same condition and based on a series of measures like the positive predictive value, negative predictive value, accuracy, sensitivit...
متن کاملAerodynamic Design Optimization Using Genetic Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)
An efficient formulation for the robust shape optimization of aerodynamic objects is introduced in this paper. The formulation has three essential features. First, an Euler solver based on a second-order Godunov scheme is used for the flow calculations. Second, a genetic algorithm with binary number encoding is implemented for the optimization procedure. The third ingredient of the procedure is...
متن کاملTREE AUTOMATA BASED ON COMPLETE RESIDUATED LATTICE-VALUED LOGIC: REDUCTION ALGORITHM AND DECISION PROBLEMS
In this paper, at first we define the concepts of response function and accessible states of a complete residuated lattice-valued (for simplicity we write $mathcal{L}$-valued) tree automaton with a threshold $c.$ Then, related to these concepts, we prove some lemmas and theorems that are applied in considering some decision problems such as finiteness-value and emptiness-value of recognizable t...
متن کاملCross-validation and peeling strategies for survival bump hunting using recursive peeling methods
We introduce a framework to build a survival/risk bump hunting model with a censored time-to-event response. Our Survival Bump Hunting (SBH) method is based on a recursive peeling procedure that uses a specific survival peeling criterion derived from non/semi-parametric statistics such as the hazards-ratio, the log-rank test or the Nelson--Aalen estimator. To optimize the tuning parameter of th...
